Every day across Devon, SWH is maintaining the County's roads

SWH has been Devon County Council's Highway Term Maintenance Contractor since 1995 in the largest county road network in the UK. Our relationship with Devon County Council is a proactive 'One Team' culture. Together we have developed a culture where our team is fully integrated with the client's delivery team, sharing premises and enjoying a combined structure.

Our activities include:

• Routine maintenance activities including winter maintenance, safety defect repairs, emergency response and soft estate management.
• Highway Improvement Schemes including carriageway and footway resurfacing, footway works and traffic management.
• Surfacing
• Design Services for Surface Dressing. With our in-house design team, SWH provides an end-to-end service. Our dedicated team of designers work closely with our client in identifying sites suitable for dressing and the preparation of designs and estimates for the work. Early contractor involvement has ensured continual improvement in the efficiency and quality of the end product as well as greater certainty for our Client.
• Community Liaison. Customers and stakeholders are at the heart of our operations. In this latest Contract we introduced full-time dedicated Community Liaison Officers who engage will all stakeholders before, during and after works are carried out to confirm all our activities focus on their needs.

Co-location wherever possible has been adopted and we now share office and depot facilities with Devon County Council staff to manage and operate this long-standing contract. This integrated approach reduces costs for our Client and ensures excellent communication links are maintained.

This is demonstrated by SWH successfully retendering and winning the Contract through three successive terms. SWH proudly employs 500 people who are dedicated to the Contract's successful delivery. We are extremely proud of this contract.
