Highway Maintenance
South West Highways: Record Breakers
South West Highways has two of the longest running highway maintenance and road repair contracts in the UK. We are proud of our highway maintenance record and constantly strive to improve our performance through continuous improvement and innovation to ensure our future as one of the most successful highway maintenance companies in the UK. Our highway maintenance activities include routine maintenance activities such as winter maintenance. Staff dedicated to our Devon County Council contract alone include over 200 trained gritter , snow plough and snow clearance drivers who cover 48 routes. Drainage improvements and bridge and structural repairs are just a couple of our highway improvement activities. We also have three dedicated surfacing gangs.
Along with our clients, we measure ourselves against a strict set of Key Performance Indicators, including:
The Devon County Council contract - the largest of its type in the UK has been held constantly since 1995. The partners also claimed top spot of all participating county authorities in a national customer satisfaction survey for gritting and snow clearance in 2009 and 2010; and were placed second for highway maintenance in both years also.
With our Joint Venture partner Balfour Beatty we have held the A30/A35 Contract, now a Managing Agent Contractor Contract for almost as long, since 1996. This trunk road forms a major tourist route and is 112Km long.
We put these great successes down to our commitment to our customers and their shareholders. |
