Course description
The NVQ in Management at Level 4 is aimed at middle managers.
If you are an experienced manager with previous management training,
you can gain accreditation for your current skills and experience
via our highly regarded professional discussion route.
Who will benefit from this course?
Working with one of our experienced assessors in your workplace,
you describe how what you do matches up to nationally recognised
standards of good practice. You then back up your verbal reports
with evidence produced from your day-to-day work - reports,
memos, e-mail trails, etc. Your assessor will highlight your
strengths and indicate areas where you could usefully develop
or update your practice. You will find this is a much quicker,
yet satisfying, approach to achieving an NVQ than the usual
‘portfolio’ approach.
Duration of the course
Flexible
Outline
The standards are divided into work roles, called ‘units’,
which are further divided into job tasks, called ‘elements’.
Each element then has ‘performance criteria’ which
describe how that job task should be undertaken.
The following are the core, mandatory units for the
NVQ:
Manage activities to meet requirements
Contribute to improvements at work
Develop your own resources
Develop productive working relationships
Provide information to support decision making
Manage the use of physical resources
Manage the use of financial resources
In addition, you choose 3 from a choice of optional
units that most closely match your workplace activity:
Select personnel for activities
Develop teams and individuals to enhance performance
Manage the performance of teams and individuals
Respond to poor performance within your team
Facilitate meetings
Provide advice and support for the development and implementation
of quality policies
Implement quality assurance systems
Monitor compliance with quality systems
Carry out quality audits
Contribute to project planning and preparation
Co-ordinate the running of projects
Contribute to project closure
