Maintenance Operations is by far the largest Construction NVQ – but it is an excellent qualification if the candidate is multi-skilled and is able to turn their hand to almost anything! There are five mandatory units that must be completed. From the two lists below the candidate must select 5 units from Group A and a further 4 from Group B. As you can see from the list there is a wide choice on offer.
Group A
1. Repair and renew wood components
2. Repair and Renew basic plumbing components
3. Renew floor and wall tiling
4. Renew sink and sanitary appliances
5. Renew rainwater components
6. Repair and renew fencing components
7. Install and renew ironmongery
8. Prepare surfaces and apply paint systems by brush/roller
9. Renew small areas of wall covering to non-complex locations
10. Repair proprietary

Group B
1. Erect and dismantle access platforms
2. Repair Masonry
3. Repair plaster finishes to walls & ceilings
4. Repair slate and tile pitched roof covering
5. Repair and replace concrete slabs and paving
6. Renew drainage components
7. Repair rendering to vertical surfaces
8. Repair glazing installations (up to 1.5m high)
9. Repair proprietary flashings at roof junctions
10. Repair floor screeds
